Baul Song There is a wealth of cultural treasures that need to be enhanced and be made better known. Refined and sophisticated but also popular forms of music have been shaping the cultural identity of this land throughout the centuries and are still very much alive, albeit in certain circles only. Culture and this especially true for music, needs to be shared as it belongs to the nation and its all people, reflecting very effectively, thanks to its manifold manifestations, the national identity of this country. Also with a view to safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage of Bangladesh, UNESCO organized Baul festival 2004.

In collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy , these 2 days long programme given special focus on Women Folk singers from all over the Bangladesh for one second special night. The folk singers from all corners of Bangladesh both national and local level performed. Event has been digitally documented as part of preservation and safeguarding campaign. Following these series of programme on Baul , Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO (BNCU) submitted nomination for baul and on 25 November 2005 , International jury board has accepted baul Songs as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritages of the Humanity.
