Traditional and rural Music festival of Bangladesh |

Bangladesh is known for its local music style in the region like Gomvhira in Chapainawabganj, Bhawaiya from Rangpur, Pala gan from Lalmonirhat etc. Partner NGO Save the Environment and Peoples' Development Association (SEPDA) did research and organized 10 rural music festivals with focus on local varieties of traditional music identify and describe local forms of traditional song, collection of lyrics, documentation, collect the name of the popular local artist etc.
These festivals have taken place in five districts Tangail, Rajshahi, Bogra, Kurigram, Dinajpur, and Panchagarh. Only local artists from rural area performed. The target audience was rural people in very remote areas. Digital documentation of these live performances has been completed as part of this project for preservation and future research on its original form. The main objectives of this campaign was to regain various local traditional and rural music forms which are declining and utilizing folk forms and artists for awareness creation on mass people on cultural diversity. |
