HIV/AIDS Education

UNESCO’s distinctive combination of expertise in education, science, social sciences, culture and communications gives it an interdisciplinary organizational and technical capacity that is particularly suited to support responses to HIV and AIDS.
UNESCO supports responses to HIV and AIDS that are inclusive and sensitive to the needs and issues of all of the population, but with particular attention to key populations especially vulnerable to HIV and young people in school settings. It also supports responses that are gender and age responsive, culturally appropriate, evidence-informed and grounded in human rights, and that involve people living with HIV and other vulnerable populations at all stages.

A national NFE training curriculum on HIV/AIDS preventive education to train religious leaders and Imams of the mosque was developed by Grambangla Unnayan Committee in close participation of all concerned Ministries, Govt. agencies and NGOs. The manual was used to orient Imams and religious leaders on HIV/AIDS preventive education. The Imams and religious leaders being one of the most influential social and religious actors contribute a lot in raising awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention and elimination of social stigma and discrimination.
