Only two weeks left for submitting nominations to the 2009 edition of the International Literacy Prizes. In compliance with the United Nations Literacy Decade’s biannual calendar for 2009-2010, the special theme is “Literacy and Empowerment”. Member States and International Non-Governmental Organizations maintaining formal consultative relations with the Organization are invited to solicit and submit applications. This year, the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes consist of four awards, with a total value of US$80,000. - The UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize (2 awards)
- The UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy (2 awards)
Applicants’ files should reach the UNESCO Secretariat no later than 30 June 2009. Applicants are highly encouraged to send their files in electronic format.
