Tribal Adolescents Development Programme (TADP) for Mother Tongue and Bilingual Literacy Programme PDF Print E-mail
This project has been implemented by ASHRAI to create social awareness and initiate actions to protect tribal rights in the targeted project sites/community. Components of the project were to conduct literacy activities for adolescents of the tribal communities and needs based vocational livelihood skills training, to establish network, coordination and partnership development with the government, NGO, INGO for tribal issues, and to promote establishing CLCs to function as a resource centre. The aim of this project is also to facilitate adolescents and women to find means and ways for theie sustainable developments. 
 
Celebrating International literacy day in 2005 PDF Print E-mail
At national level, the government organized the celebration ceremony for the day with the Prime Minister. UNESCO Dhaka supported this initiative with providing 50,000 posters designed by the government. At the divisional level, 4 NGOs celebrated the day with events like divisional meetings on literacy, reading/writing/drawing competitions, and students' speeches. 
 
Editing and Printing of 6 popular fiction story books for neo literates PDF Print E-mail
Bangla Short Stories for neo-Literates8 stories were selected from all 30 fiction stories written after writer's workshop mentioned above. 8 stories in 2 books were edited and illustrations were added for printing. 4 cultural heritage sites are selected, which are Lalbag Fort, Buddha Biharh, Mahasthangarh and Kantajee Temple . About those 4 sites, histories and locations are adequately studied and stories about those sites were written.

Writer's workshop for popular fiction writers on developing continuing education mate PDF Print E-mail
Objectives of this activity are to develop reading materials for the neo-literates and to make popular fiction writers involved with the development of reading materials for the neo-literates. The stories are recommended to be on rural environment, culture, traditional folks and others. 3 day workshop was arranged with popular writers well known for writing fictions. The first day principally focuses on the necessity of reading books for neo-literate and guideline for writing books for this particular group. The writers were oriented on techniques of writing materials for neo literate using easy and simple vocabulary and logographic method.
 
Conducing a workshop on Reading for All PDF Print E-mail
Reading for All Reading is a fundamental component of literacy and continuous learning. Important and useful knowledge can be obtained through reading. Ideas of individuals can be transferred to others through reading. For beginners and neo-literates reading may constitute a major motivation for further learning, as distraction and pleasure are provided through short and lively stories, using simple language structure. Beginners/neo-literates may find it rewarding to use recently acquired knowledge in an easy and pleasant way. Staffs in NGO and government who are engaged in post literacy and continuing education participated in the workshop to exchange ideas and experiences and discuss further cooperation between them and UNESCO Dhaka to promote reading habits in Bangladesh . 
 
Developing Non formal education (NFE) information bank CD PDF Print E-mail
The objective was to support NFE personnel of the government and NGOs to improve knowledge and skills on NFE and Literacy. Main activities were to accumulate good NFE and literacy materials which were developed in the past, to save all those documents and materials in Bangla and English into CD designed with user-friendly html pages, and to disseminate them with orientation workshops in 6 divisions in the country.
