Integrated Education Health and Capacity Building of Adolescent Girls Programme (Project) PDF Print E-mail
Objectives of the project were to provide with knowledge, tools and services to a large number of disadvantaged adolescent girls in slum areas in Dhaka . Nari Maitree has been implementing the project with the financial and technical support from UNESCO. The major components of the project were: group formation and development, Adolescent Family Life Education (AFLE), Non-formal Continuing Education (NFCE), health education with special emphasis on reproductive health, STDs and HIV/AIDS, skill development training for capacity building and credit support.

400 adolescent girls were enrolled at 7 Non-formal Education Centres (NFEs) to go through those components. Through those learning and training, they became more capable to improve their life style & livelihood and that of the survival of their families as well as more confident with self-esteem. The project also supported all adolescent girls to find ways to make own earnings with obtained skills.

Breaking the Poverty Cycle of Women: Adolescents Girls as Agents of Social Change (Project) PDF Print E-mail
Skills Training to Adolescent GirlsThe objective of this project was to empower the marginalized and vulnerable adolescent girls and boys to become the agent of social transformation. Basic education along with science education, skill training, micro-finance facilities and communication services are provided at community learning centres (CLC).
The project addressed the needs of 1300 poor adolescent girls and boys at 35 CLCs in Tangail and Narshingdi districts of Bangladesh . Two NGOs, Dhaka Ahsania Mission and Nari Maitree, implemented three main components of the project – Education and Micro-finance, Science, and Communication & Information. Through Education and Micro-finance component, the targeted adolescent girls and boys were provided with literacy; skill training; micro-credit; basic and reproductive health education and services; family life, legal and gender education. In Communication & Information component, access to computers, learning software, internet was ensured at community resource centres (CRC). Learners came to know how to use computers and learned from educational software.

Strategic Capacity Building of NGO and GO Mid-level Staffs in Literacy/Skills Training PDF Print E-mail
 This project was implemented in collaboration with 4 NGOs:Community Development Centre, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Friends in Village Development and Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Services. The main objective of the project was to build capacity of NFE personnel in five key areas in NFE programmes. The five key areas are Planning & Management, Material Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Post Literacy Planning and Management, and Roles of Teachers/Facilitators. More than 150 NFE personnel from 124 NGOs were trained on 5 areas in 6 divisions. Through its implementation, a network of 124 NGOs working with literacy/NFE was established.
 
Developing Capacity of Service Providers Involved in Pre-school Programme PDF Print E-mail
The objective of this activity was to develop the capacity of service providers who are directly involved in pre-school program (teachers and supervisors) in different NGO's on quality early childhood care and education. After the training, the trainees would be able to  Explain the process of child development, Identify the ways of how children learn, Recognize play as main way of children's learning, Explain developmentally appropriate pre-school program, Arrange child-friendly environment in pre-school centers, Play and do different activities with children, Manage children maintaining positive ways of disciplining children, Identify the importance of story telling and Adapt different ways of story telling including the traditional way. 80 service providers and teacher trainers were trained in 4 batches in 2005.
 
Toolkit for creating inclusive learning friendly environments PDF Print E-mail
The toolkit has 6 main components which are Becoming and inclusive, learning-friendly environment (ILFE), Working with families and communities to create an ILFE, Getting all children in school and learning, Creating inclusive, learning friendly classrooms, Managing inclusive, learning friendly classrooms, and Creating a healthy and protective ILFE. The original toolkit in English was developed by UNESCO Bangkok in 2004. The toolkit was translated into Bangla, edited and adapted in 2005. The toolkit in Bangla will be printed in early 2006 and widely distributed to the government organizations, NGOs and development partners.
